The first Cadillac Escalade IQ EV crosses the block!
Upon each new vehicle released to the automotive world, whether it’s a multi-million dollar hypercar or ultra-luxury SUV, the first rolling production chassis often carries a hefty auction premium well past the intended MSRP. And while it may sound like a bad deal for the buyer, the money from these high-dollar examples is donated to charitable funds and organizations to help bring awareness to a cause. The first retail production 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ, VIN 001, recently made waves at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction by raising $550,000 for the Detroit Children’s Fund (DCF). As a nonprofit dedicated to enhancing public education in Detroit, DCF will use the full amount to support school leaders and provide much-needed resources for local students. Thanks to Barrett-Jackson waiving auction fees and commissions, every dollar will go directly toward helping Detroit’s children access the quality education they deserve.
General Motors President Mark Reuss praised the partnership, highlighting how the success of the Escalade IQ sale aligns with DCF’s vital mission. With the Escalade IQ offering an estimated 460 miles of range and advanced features like Super Cruise hands-free driving and a 55-inch display, the SUV sets a new standard for luxury EVs. The funds raised will be a game-changer for many Detroit students, guaranteeing schools receive the support they need to help children thrive. DCF CEO Nick Karmanos expressed deep gratitude to GM, Cadillac, and the winning bidder, highlighting how this contribution will make a lasting impact on thousands of students across the city.
