Like many of us car enthusiasts, film director Joseph Kosinski grew up with a poster in his childhood bedroom of his favorite supercar. Specifically, it happened to be the Porsche 959. His dreams weren’t just of supercar ownership, but also to build race cars, and he pursued education in mechanical engineering, ultimately following a different path that would lead him through architecture and eventually to Hollywood, where he has amazing creations like Top Gun: Maverick and an upcoming Formula 1 film to his name.
Despite not having a career in the automotive world, Kosinski’s love for cars and specifically Porsche never died. At the age of 33, he purchased his first Porsche, a Cayman S, after that came a Type 997 Porsche 911 Carrera S, and a treasured 991 911 Turbo in 2017, which was unfortunately crashed after only a year of ownership. Most recently, with three children, Kosinski has added a Porsche Cayenne GTS Coupe to his garage, which sits alongside an air-cooled 993-generation 911 Carrera Coupe, which he likes to drive on California’s Tuna Canyon Road. With regular driving training at the Porsche Experience Center, Kosinski also looks forward to a Porsche 911 GT3 Touring which is currently on order. With it being full of Porsche’s greatest masterpieces, Joseph Kosinski’s garage sets a scene just as epic as one of his many sets.
