Golf’s G.O.A.T. also had a passion for JDM icons.
When the topic of sports legends sparks a conversation, Tiger Woods will undoubtedly rank among the greats alongside Michael Jordan, Muhammad Ali, Tom Brady, Roger Federer, and so many others. With a dominating professional golf career that began in 1996 at the age of 20 years old, Woods’ nearly 30-year career on the course has always revolved around golf and ways to improve his game and success on the tour. However, besides golf, Tiger also shared a passion for cars, having owned plenty of Buicks and Hyundais and icons like a Porsche Carrera GT, Lamborghini Murcielago, and Mercedes-McLaren SLR. But with so much success and an incredible supercar ownership history, you have to wonder what Tiger Woods drove as his first car.
Bridgestone Golf got the answer in a recent sit-down interview with Tiger himself, which was later uploaded to its Instagram page. When asked what was his first car, Tiger smiled and responded with, “1988 Navy Toyota Supra.” As if that answer could get cool enough, he also shares a story about how he upgraded the sound system with a subwoofer in the back with his winnings from putting bets and skins matches. While the Toyota Supra really got its industry recognition from the coveted Mk4 variant in the mid-1990s, the Mk3 version laid the groundwork for Toyota’s most iconic sports car series.
