Genesis continues to showcase futuristic performance with a new concept.
For over a decade, the Vision Gran Turismo series of cars has given manufacturers all over the world a chance to not only show off future design language and forward-thinking visions of the automotive world’s next generation but also to bring those concepts to life in the world of the Gran Turismo driving simulator. Genesis unveiled the X Gran Berlinetta VGT Concept, a stunning sports coupe, earlier this year. The luxury manufacturer has since unveiled a new derivative of the car, the X Gran Racer VGT Concept.
Unveiled at the Busan International Mobility Show, the Gran Racer takes a more track-focused approach to performance. It features enhanced ground effects, racing-focused active aerodynamics, and a flat underbody for uncompromised racing performance. The concept also sports a carbon fiber wing designed with aerodynamics and safety in mind. The V6 hybrid powertrain in the X Gran Racer VGT concept boasts 1,540 horsepower, a significant jump compared to the 1,071 horsepower of the X Gran Berlinetta.
The car’s dramatic and eye-catching color hints at the Magma theme that all of Genesis’ performance-oriented creations have recently assumed. A lineup of new concepts aimed at performance has sported the striking color and the Magma name in some cases, which has hinted at a future performance-oriented sub-brand from Genesis called Magma. Improving on the Gran Berlinetta’s performance, the new Genesis X Gran Racer VGT concept builds the anticipation of Genesis performance cars even higher.
