Ford Performance returns to Pikes Peak with the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck, aiming to set new records with a 1400+ horsepower EV.
Get ready for an electrifying weekend as Ford Performance gears up for the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb with its all-new F-150 Lightning SuperTruck. Ford’s latest beast of an electric track star is set to follow the success of the SuperVan 4.2, which smashed records at last year’s event. Designed in collaboration with Ford Design and STARD Advanced Research and Development, the SuperTruck features advanced aerodynamics, showcasing over 6,000 pounds of downforce at 150 mph and optimized electric motors for peak performance. Its powertrain includes three STARD UHP 6-Phase Motors and Ultra-High Performance Li-Polymer NMC cells, pushing out over 1400 horsepower.
Ford has spared no detail for the 102nd running of this legendary hill climb. The F-150 Lightning SuperTruck has a triple-element front wing, headlight ducts, hood ducts and louvers, front dive-planes, side diffusers, rear diffusers, and a multi-spec rear wing. It also comes equipped with carbon ceramic brakes, Pirelli P-Zero tires on magnesium forged wheels, and a fully custom in-board suspension system. Behind the wheel will be seasoned racer Romain Dumas, a Pikes Peak veteran and current overall record holder. Dumas is returning for his second appearance with Ford Performance, noting that the SuperTruck has already exceeded his expectations during testing.
Ford’s rich history at Pikes Peak dates back to 1916, and this year they’re aiming to surpass their 2023 record with the SuperVan 4.2. With a dedication to pushing the boundaries of electric vehicle capabilities, Ford’s pursuit of EV innovation is fully charged as they head into this year’s event. The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is set for June 23, and all eyes will be on the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck as it aims to make history.
