One of the most prominent celebrity car collectors gets a look at McLaren’s new masterpiece.
Jay Leno’s illustrious career in comedy and television propelled him to celebrity status, and with that came the ability to acquire one of the world’s most impressive car collections, which consists of stunning hypercars, historically significant classics, and sumptuous luxury vehicles. However, along with his expansive collection came the Jay Leno’s Garage show, where not only is his own collection highlighted, but also the latest and greatest marvels of the automotive industry.
In a recent episode of the show, the new McLaren hybrid hypercar, and the latest in McLaren’s trilogy of “1” cars, the McLaren W1, made an appearance on Jay Leno’s Garage. Succeeding some of the greatest legends in supercar history, the McLaren F1 of the 1990s, and the McLaren P1 of the 2010s, the McLaren W1 combines a twin-turbocharged V8 engine with a hybrid system, innovative lightweight construction, and advanced, aggressive aerodynamics to create one of the most formidable performance-oriented machines yet.
With 1,258 horsepower, 988 lb/ft of torque, and bleeding-edge engineering, the McLaren W1 is potentially McLaren’s most advanced and greatest car yet. In the new episode, Jay Leno talks to Michael Leiters, the CEO of McLaren Automotive, and goes on an in-depth exploration of the McLaren W1, not only regarding its incredible power, but also its daring weight savings, innovative aerodynamics, and pioneering use of carbon fiber in its construction.
