Porsche Cars North America celebrates its 40th anniversary, marking its journey from humble beginnings to a leader in the U.S. luxury car market.
This year, Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) celebrates its 40th anniversary, reflecting on its incredible journey since 1984. Back then, the company had just three models within its lineup: the 944, 928, and the iconic 911. That same year, Porsche made waves in motorsport by securing eight of the top nine spots at Le Mans and achieving an off-road victory in the Paris-Dakar rally with a G series 911. Fast forward to today, and PCNA’s growth has been nothing short of extraordinary, mirroring the brand’s growing presence in North America.
In 1998, as Porsche’s popularity surged, PCNA relocated its headquarters to Atlanta, Georgia, laying the foundation for what would become a hub for Porsche enthusiasts. The opening of One Porsche Drive in 2015 solidified PCNA’s position as a cornerstone of the Porsche community in the U.S. The state-of-the-art facility includes the Porsche Experience Center Atlanta, offering exciting experiences for fans and serving as a home for Porsche Classic. The success of this concept led to the launch of a second Porsche Experience Center in Los Angeles in 2016, further cementing Porsche’s influence across the nation.
Today, PCNA’s impact on the American market is undeniable. The model lineup has expanded from three in 1984 to six today, including the 718, 911, Taycan, Panamera, Macan, and Cayenne. With over 200 Porsche Centers and a remarkable sales figure of over 75,000 cars in 2023, Porsche continues to dominate both on the road and in motorsports, carrying forward the legacy that began four decades ago.
