Rock Island Auction Company’s August 23-25 Premier Auction in Bedford, Texas unveils a stunning selection of investment-grade firearms headlined by a trio of treasures making their auction debut. From the royal armories of Europe to the forgotten corners of rural America, pinnacle offerings from across the fine arms field have been assembled for this marquee event.
Over four hundred years after it was first received by King Louis XIII of France, a magnificent royal presentation wheellock is available to the collecting public. One of the earliest inclusions in the French monarch’s renowned Cabinet d’Armes, King Louis XIII’s ornamented wheellock is a historic cornerstone of European artistry.
Another groundbreaking reveal, Rock Island Auction Company is proud to present “The Marshfield Find,” a genuine “out of the box” Winchester Model 1886 rifle unlike anything else in the genre. After being preserved in its original shipping crate for nearly 140 years, this remarkable rifle will be presented to the world this August.
One of the finest treasures in the military collecting pursuit also makes its debut with “The Invictus Singer.” Only 500 Singer M1911A1 pistols were manufactured, with few retaining the condition or immense provenance of the personal sidearm carried by Lt. Col. Thomas R. Moss, World War II bomber pilot and recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross.
Hosted at Rock Island Auction Company’s industry-leading venue at 3600 Harwood Rd., Bedford, Texas, the three-day August auction is preceded by a preview day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday August 22nd, where the public is invited to examine any of the over 1,700 lots displayed in the venue’s 19,000-square-foot preview hall. In addition to in-person bidding, bids can also be entered via email, phone, fax, or submitted at rockislandauction.com. The website also livestreams each auction and hosts the company’s online bidding platform, Rock Island Auction Live, allowing committed collectors from around the world to participate in August’s landmark event.
