One of the gaming world’s favorite racing franchises goes to Japan.
Since their invention, racing video games have been one of automotive enthusiasts’ favorite ways to virtually experience some of the world’s greatest cars, getting behind the wheels of rare, fast, expensive, and beautiful machines with no consequences and a track to unleash them on at full throttle. However, racing games have evolved to include beautiful open worlds for players to explore, with incredibly expansive lists of hundreds of cars available to drive, and Forza Horizon is one of the most prominent franchises in that regard.
The latest Forza Horizon title, Forza Horizon 5, is now available to play on Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 5, with the gorgeous setting of Mexico and all manners of cars to take on the thrilling digital adventure. Since its introduction in 2021, the successor to Forza Horizon 5 has finally been announced at long last, serendipitously at the 2025 Tokyo Game Show.
That’s because Forza Horizon 6, which is set to launch in 2026 with a teaser trailer now revealed, is finally going to be set in Japan. Answering the long-time requests of fans with a passion for Japanese car culture, Horizon 6 is the result of speculation for a Japan-set game that has been in the rumor mill for years. The game will initially launch for Xbox Series S/X, and PC, and post-launch, the game will also be available for PlayStation 5.
With its setting being a fictionalized version of Japan, anticipation is sure to build for the new Forza Horizon game to feature the many appealing aspects of Japanese car culture, not only with its car selection, which will hopefully highlight JDM legends, but also in its environments, with Japan being known for its dramatic mountain passes that are perfect for drifting, and highway stretches that will be perfect for reaching high speeds in the upcoming game. With the new Horizon game launching next year, the excitement is sure to reach fever pitch among fans who have been waiting for a Japan-based game for a long time.
