Swatch expands its Bioceramic Scuba Collection with the lunar-themed Ocean of Storms, a tribute to Blancpain’s diving legacy.
Swatch and Blancpain are taking their successful collaboration beyond earthly bounds with the latest addition to their Bioceramic Scuba Fifty Fathoms Collection, the new Ocean of Storms. This example of the coveted Blancpain Fifty Fathoms is a celestial nod to horology’s rich history and the future of watchmaking. The Ocean of Storms, joining the other collectible versions named after Earth’s oceans, draws inspiration from the vast Oceanus Procellarum or “Ocean of Storms” on the moon. Spanning a staggering 7.7 million square miles, this lunar sea is now symbolically captured on the wrist.
Retaining the classic features of the collection, this non-limited model showcases the innovative SISTEM51 mechanical movement. This mechanism, consisting of only 51 parts and a central screw, offers an impressive 90-hour power reserve and an anti-magnetic Nivachron hairspring. Swatch’s dedication to innovation and sustainability is evident in the Ocean of Storms’ design. The watch is crafted from Bioceramic, a unique blend of ceramic and castor oil-derived bio-sourced material. The nato straps are made from recycled fishing nets. Available from January 11, 2024, the Swatch x Blancpain Ocean of Storms is set to make a splash in the world of luxury timepieces.
