Presented by Porsche x Porsche Design – Exotic cars and fine handcrafted timepieces complement each other in a similar way that salt and pepper do. They just work. In many cases, watch manufacturers create pieces that tailor to the exotic automotive industry and even specific vehicles altogether. Makes and Movements will be selecting spectacular products available through duPont Registry and pairing them with current or pre-released watches. The diversity of both the vehicles and timepieces will shed light on different brands and help educated on new areas of each industry.

Porsche Design 911 Sport Classic Chronograph

Proving itself as lifestyle extension of its German automotive branch, Porsche Design incorporates the same design and technology as its fleet of production sports cars. One area that helps to bridge a gap between race track and fashion runway is the luxury watch market, a sector that Porsche Design features an exclusive collection of vehicle-inspired watches. Each limited-edition release represents a performance milestone for Porsche and its continuous push for success both on and off-track. After the recent announcement of the new limited-edition 2023 Porsche 911 Sport Classic model, Porsche Design stood at the ready to create a luxury watch that would pair perfectly with the aesthetics of the most powerful manual transmission vehicle from the German automotive manufacturer. The two luxury staples act as a blend between classic and modern Porsche excellence, highlighting its creative and performance capabilities within two completely different industries. The 2023 Porsche 911 Sport Classic and Porsche Design 911 Sport Classic Chronograph are the new dynamic duo looking to pay homage to the iconic 911 Carrera RS 2.7.

Limited to Only 1,250-Pieces

The Porsche Design 911 Sport Classic Chronograph brings back the exciting spirit of the early 1960s and 1970s, incorporating premium materials with a timeless design to celebrate the original Chronograph 1 from 1972. The 911 Sport Classic Chronograph takes shape in a sporty case design crafted from lightweight titanium, with an available option to choose from natural silver or a matte black finish. With classic being the main inspiration behind the special project, the dial design mimics the rev gauge from the Porsche 911 Targa Heritage Edition with white chronograph hands and green numerals. The collection showcases its exclusivity with three unique dial configurations to choose from, each presenting a modern take on a classic automotive-inspired design.

Porsche Design Caliber WERK 01.200

The engine platform driving power to the 911 Sport Classic Chronograph is Porsche Design’s in-house Caliber WERK 01.200 movement, which effortlessly operates its hours, minutes, seconds, 30-second counter, date, and flyback chronograph functions. The performance-driven movement establishes itself as a durable complication with a 48-hour power reserve and 100-meter water resistance. With an open caseback that provides a secondary view of the movement in action, each lucky owner can choose a rotor wheel that matches the set that comes on their specific vehicle. The outer portion of the backcase reveals intricate engravings that signify the special release from the Porsche Design. Pulling inspiration from the black and cognac interior of the Porsche 911 Sport Classic, Porsche fits the new 911 Sport Classic Chronograph with a matching cognac leather strap and a titanium buckle. The two luxury Porsche products aim to deliver the very best in design and performance, with a focus on always embracing the past, present, and future of the brand.

2023 Porsche 911 Sport Classic

The Porsche 911 will forever continue its legacy as one of the most iconic sports cars in automotive history, boasting a timeless design that pairs perfectly with its track-like performance. Porsche is proud to pay tribute to the classic 911 Carrera RS 2.7 from the 1970s, with an all-new 2023 Porsche 911 Sport Classic limited-production model. The special project is born from Porsche’s Heritage Design strategy, which began its start in 2020 with the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition. Limited to only 1,250-examples worldwide, the Porsche 911 Sport Classic defines itself as a true driver’s car for any collector or enthusiast looking to re-live the early days of Porsche excellence.

Special Porsche Sport Classic Grey Finish

The exterior receives its wide-body styling from the updated 992 911 Turbo S, presenting an aggressive stance with plenty of aerodynamics to handle beautifully through quick turns. The 911 Sport Classic features a unique paint scheme that incorporates a Sport Grey Metallic finish with contrasting light Sport Grey racing stripes, both colors that are exclusive to Porsche’s extensive color palette. Customers may also configure the 911 Sport Classic in Black (non-metallic), Agate Grey Metallic, or Gentian Blue Metallic. The most inspirational aspect of the new body design is the large ducktail spoiler crafted from CFRP, embracing classic design DNA reminiscent of the 1972 and 1973 911 Carrera RS 2.7. The 911 Sport Classic wheels take shape as a modern re-interpretation of the classic Fuchs design, a style that continues as a popular trend within the community of Porsche owners and enthusiasts.

Semi-Aniline Black & Classic Cognac Interior

Porsche

While Porsche is known for creating some of the most unique interior color combinations, the 911 Sport Classic features a semi-aniline Black/Classic Cognac design reminiscent of the 1960s and early 1970s. The use of supple and natural feeling grade of leather has not been replicated since the production of the 918 Spyder. The interior also comes available in a simple and modest single-tine black leather configuration. Porsche includes a commemorative badge on the passenger side of the dashboard above the glovebox that enumerates each example in the 1,250-unit production run.

3.9L Twin-Turbocharged Flat-Six (543HP/442-FT-LB)

Porsche

At the heart of the beast lies an engine and transmission combination that Porsche purists could only describe as the answer to their prayers. Delivering over 543-horsepower and 442-lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels, Porsche fits the 911 Sport Classic with the same 3.9-Liter Twin-Turbocharged Flat-Six found in the 911 Turbo models. The difference between this special edition example and the rest of the regular production models is revised engine tuning that produces the appropriate power out compatible with its 7-speed manual transmission. The Porsche 911 Sport Classic now refers to itself as the most powerful 911 with a manual transmission currently available.

Why To Buy

The 2023 Porsche 911 Sport Classic is the best new addition to any garage because of its impact as the new most powerful manual transmission platform from Porsche. As a limited-production line of only 1,250-examples worldwide, the 911 Sport Classic falls into the collecting category of pioneering models like the 911 Carrera RS 2.7 and 911R from 2016. Packed with the look, feel, and performance of a vintage Porsche sports car, the 911 Sport Classic is the new staple model for Porsche purists.
