Acura’s new flagship electric SUV takes to a revered race course.
Pikes Peak is known as one of the most respected and daunting challenges in the rally and racing world. It is the venue that has forged many a motorsport legend, whether a driver, manufacturer, or car. This year’s Pikes Peak International Hill Climb event is fast approaching, and with it comes a mad dash to secure course records and showcase incredible driving ability. Acura and its new ZDX Type S all-electric SUV are playing a major role.
The ZDX Type S is set to serve as the first all-electric pace car at this year’s Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, the 102nd running of the event. Behind the wheel of the new Acura ZDX Type S will be pro-BMX athlete and amateur drifter Coco Zurita. Coco’s partnership with Acura began with a custom 2023 Acura Integra build, which debuted at 2022’s SEMA show. It continued with a custom 2024 Acura TLX Type S build that debuted at the 2024 Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach.
Now, Zurita’s partnership with Acura is culminating at one of the motorsport world’s most respected racing courses behind the wheel of the new ZDX Type S, one of the most powerful and innovative Acura models to be debuted with an all-electric powertrain, nearly 500 horsepower, and 544 lb/ft of torque. Acura’s new pace car contribution ensures that this year’s Pikes Peak International Hill Climb will be truly electrified.
