Chevrolet shows off the potential future of NASCAR.
NASCAR is one of the most prominent and iconic staples of the American motorsport world, and the series has forged a number of racing legends and staple events. However, one of the manufacturers that is well known within the Nascar world, Chevrolet, has recently unveiled a radical, electrified vision for its future in the form of its new Blazer EV.R NASCAR Prototype, which was revealed ahead of this year’s legendary Daytona 500 race, where the Blazer EV SS will be serving as the pace car.
The Blazer EV SS is the first Blazer to serve as a pace car, as well as the fist EV to serve as the pace car for the Daytona 500. However, the Blazer EV.R NASCAR Prototype envisions a future in which electric vehicles are not only pace cars, but on the grid competing themselves. The prototype boasts over 1,300 horsepower, with a programmable all-wheel-drive system and Goodyear Racing Eagle tires for true racing prowess.
Created in partnership between Chevrolet and NASCAR, the prototype is an exploration and an innovative vision of what the future of the legendary American motorsport could look like. While V8 engines remain an important staple of NASCAR as we know it today, electrified race cars could bring a new level of excitement and futurism to the NASCAR arena. With motorsport providing innovation to roadgoing vehicles, electric racing in NASCAR could push the entire world of automotive performance forward.
