Endurance racing is one of the most daunting challenges in the motorsport world, with cars, engineers, teams, and drivers alike equally challenged to drive at a competitive pace for as long as 24 hours and for thousands of miles. Winners of these races, especially at the most prestigious endurance races, are sealed in the annals of automotive history as heroes, whether that is a manufacturer, a driver, or a team.
Porsche is one of the most decorated names in the world of endurance racing, with plenty of victories at the world’s most prestigious endurance race: the 24 Hours of Le Mans, as well as a revered record in the FIA World Endurance Championship. However, one Porsche factory driver, Nick Tandy, has achieved a truly incredible feat in the world of motorsport, by achieving the coveted “Grand Slam,” by winning the Rolex 24 at Daytona behind the wheel of the Porsche 963 endurance racing hypercar.
The win completes the Grand Slam, complementing the other wins including one at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Nürburgring 24 Hours, and the 24 Hours of Spa, all incredibly challenging races at legendary tracks across the globe. It is already amazing for a manufacturer to achieve this feat, but for an individual driver to complete this challenge puts them among the greatest drivers in the motorsport universe. As a factory driver for Porsche and the newly crowned ‘Mr. 24 Hours,’ Nick Tandy secured the crown jewel of an incredibly illustrious racing career.
