Worldwide Auctioneers To Offer “The Passport Collection” (Free Bidder Registration And Admission w/ Code)

by Sponsored Article

The countdown is on for one of the Midwest’s premier collector-car spectacles, as Worldwide Auctioneers brings The Enthusiast Auction home to Indiana this April 25–26. Aptly named, it’s an occasion curated for those who live and breathe all things automotive, with 250 collector vehicles set to cross the block—150+ of them offered at no reserve. The word “eclectic” only begins to describe the array of consignments awaiting new stewards. From pre-war classics and American muscle to celebrity-owned rarities and one-of-a-kind prototypes, there is truly something for every taste.

However, the undeniable headliners this year spring from the Passport Collection—a world-renowned gathering of European sports and supercars, many of which represent the pinnacle of performance and design. In an exclusive conversation with collector Stephen Plaster—the visionary behind the Passport Collection—he revealed the passion, vision, and family legacy that shaped his automotive pursuits. “I drive every one of these cars,” Plaster says with a grin. “You take your interest in enjoyment. They’re made to be driven, and they’re better for it.”

For duPont REGISTRY readers, Worldwide Auctioneers is offering FREE bidder registration and admission (a $150+ value) with promo code DUPONT when you register online at WorldwideAuctioneers.com. Whether you’re an experienced collector or just dipping your toes into the collector-car world, the Passport Collection—and the entire Enthusiast Auction—will serve up extraordinary opportunities. Bid online, by phone, or in person. Don’t miss the chance to experience it firsthand—register today!

The Passport Collection: Driving Passion, Family Legacy

When you first meet Stephen Plaster, you quickly sense his deep affection for cars. It’s not simply about ownership; it’s about living the collector-car experience. He confesses with a laugh that he’s bought over a thousand cars in his life, though he’s sold even more. “My father was a car guy before me,” he says. “He wanted to have a cross-section of cars—Model Ts, Model As, everything. Later, we sold all the coupes to focus on convertibles, then changed direction again to chase the big classics. Eventually, we found ourselves with hundreds of cars.” Plaster cites the unrelenting maintenance of so many vehicles as a key motivator for refining his collection. “I realized we spent 90% of our time on the bottom 10% of the collection.”

The evolution of the Passport Collection speaks to both a shift toward fewer but higher-caliber automobiles and the joy Plaster takes in driving them all. “I drive 50 or 60 cars every year,” he says. “It’s 10 miles to my office, 10 miles back, and that’s 20 miles that just makes my day. Occasionally one ends up on the rollback, but that’s part of owning old cars. You don’t buy them to hide them away—you buy them to enjoy.”

In collaboration with Worldwide Auctioneers, Plaster has curated a broad mix of his finest European sports and supercars for The Enthusiast Auction. “We wanted something for everyone,” says Auctioneer and Worldwide Principal, Rod Egan. “From Ferraris to Aston Martins, from Maseratis to Corvettes, it’s a fantastic variety.” Yet, despite his plans to pare down from 400+ cars to around 300, Plaster admits he’s torn. “Looking at this list, I keep thinking, ‘Why did I agree to sell this one?!’” he jokes. “But we just can’t keep them all in top shape if we have too many.”

Below are highlights from the Passport Collection, each one boasting the coveted combination of exceptional provenance and driving pleasure. Whether you’re seeking a late-model, top-down supercar or a storied V12 classic, these offerings typify what makes the European exotics market so thrilling.

1995 Ferrari F512 M (Offered Without Reserve)

When Ferrari decided to retire its legendary Testarossa platform, it did so with a masterpiece—the F512 M. It was more than just a “final version”: it was the rarest, most powerful, and most refined iteration of the Testarossa line. With just 501 produced worldwide, the F512 M introduced fixed headlights, round tail lamps, and mechanical enhancements that elevated both styling and performance. Finished in Rosso Corsa over Nero leather, this car, with 24,600 miles on the odometer, exudes ‘90s supercar bravado. Plaster’s collection has protected and exercised it with care, ensuring it remains a jaw-dropping centerpiece at any gathering of Ferraristi. “The F512 M is the best of the bunch,” says Plaster, referencing Ferrari’s iconic flat-12 lineage. A must-have for serious collectors looking for a rare, investment-grade Ferrari that still begs to be driven.

1967 Ferrari 330 GTC

On the rarified stage of V-12 Ferraris, the 330 GTC stands out as one of Maranello’s finest GT cars. Subtle Pininfarina styling, excellent visibility, and a near-perfect front-rear weight distribution make it a favorite among drivers who crave both elegance and performance. Produced in a run of just 598, chassis #10101 retains its numbers-matching engine and desirable five-speed manual gearbox. Documented by a Marcel Massini Report, it comes in the captivating original paint color, Oro Chiaro Metallizzato (light gold metallic)—a wonderfully understated hue that highlights the GTC’s graceful lines. With just 31,306 miles from new and a known three-owner history over the last 46 years, it represents an unrepeatable opportunity to own a near-original 330 GTC. “Driving a V12 Ferrari from this era is magic,” Plaster asserts. “It brings out that childlike sense of wonder every time.”

1967 Maserati Ghibli 4.7 Coupe

Among Italian thoroughbreds, the Maserati Ghibli exemplifies the blend of supercar performance and daily drivability. This earliest-series, 1967 Ghibli is the 74th built, finished in its factory-correct Blue Sera over Senape interior—an arresting color combination that epitomizes vintage Italian allure. A comprehensive, photo-documented restoration completed just a few years ago brought this Ghibli back to showroom glory, with its numbers-matching 4.7L V-8 and a five-speed manual gearbox for a pure driver’s feel. Sublime lines penned by the maestro Giorgetto Giugiaro, coupled with the mechanical pedigree of a front-engined GT, make it an icon of 1960s grand touring. “It’s an exceptional restoration,” Plaster notes. “When you turn that key, you can almost hear the desert wind it’s named for.”

“Something for Everyone”: More Auction Highlights

Beyond the Passport Collection, The Enthusiast Auction’s lineup spans nearly every category of collector interest—pre-war Cadillacs, modern muscle, American pickups, prototypes, and even celebrity-owned rides. It all echoes the spirit of Plaster’s father, who once said, “I’d rather have five $10,000 cars than one $50,000 car.” Over decades, that “all-encompassing” approach saw the family accumulate vehicles of every shape, vintage, and rarity. Today, The Enthusiast Auction aims to reflect that broad appeal, ensuring there’s a dream car for every bidder.

The event will also run in tandem with the fifth annual Enthusiast Tour (April 22–25). Aficionados can join for scenic drives through Indiana’s back roads, stops at private collections, specialist automotive shops, and unique attractions, culminating back in Auburn for the start of The Enthusiast Auction. “It’s a total celebration of car culture,” says Egan. “A chance for people to share stories, see amazing cars in motion, and, of course, bid on new ones to drive home.”
