Bentley’s new Ombre paintwork is now showcased on a Flying Spur.
Bentley has spent recent years growing and transforming, revolutionizing its lineup and making its approach to automotive ultra-luxury even more ambitious than before. Thanks to those changes, Bentley’s bespoke touches through the historic Mulliner division of the brand have become more popular than ever, and to keep up with the demand and more colorful creative expressions of clients, Mulliner has begun to offer even more configuration choices in its vast library in kind.
One of those is the new Ombre by Mulliner paint finish, the most ambitious, painstaking, and unique paintwork Bentley has offered yet, coming at an eye-watering $68,000 price, and it comes thanks to Bentley’s Crewe, England “Dream Factory” gaining a new paint shop that can facilitate the intricate finish. Offering customers a stunning front-to-back color gradient, the Ombre by Mulliner paint finish is for Bentley owners who don’t mind turning the heads of every passerby.
After being introduced at this year’s Monterey Car Week with a Bentley Continental GT Speed, the new Ombre by Mulliner paintwork has now been applied to a sedan for the first time ever, being showcased on a Flying Spur in the same color pairing as the Continental GT Speed that first introduced the Ombre paintwork. The process, combining a bright Topaz Blue at the front with a dark Windsor Blue at the rear, requires nearly 60 hours of work from highly skilled painters through a technique that involves various stages.
Two other colorways are currently available for the Ombre by Mulliner paintwork: Sunburst Gold to Orange Flame, and Tungsten to Onyx. Because of the complexity of the process, color choices are curated for Ombre, and the hand-applied paintwork will look perfect and uniform to the naked eye, while each car is truly unique. The new Ombre Bentley Flying Spur will make its debut appearance with Bentley at the Southampton International Boat Show, which runs until September 28. With the $68,000 Ombre paintwork being displayed on a sedan for the first time, Bentley is proudly showcasing its ultimate luxury craftsmanship and design with the new Ombre Flying Spur.
