Jeep brings electric mobility off the beaten path.
For decades, the Jeep name has been synonymous with off-roading and adventure, and models like the Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator have risen above automtove fame and become cultural icons among their drivers and owners. With a passionate cult following and a reputation for their off-road capability, Jeep vehicles are often trail rated and trail proven, and as the brand’s foray into electrification has begged the question of how off-roading prowess and electric mobility would combine.
Existing electrified Jeep models include hybrids, and an all-electric model in the form of the sporty, luxurious Jeep Wagoneer S, the first all-electric model to wear the Jeep badge. However, Jeep finally has an answer to the question of how it would approach creating a true off-roader with purely electric power: the all-new 2026 Jeep Recon.
Unveiling the new SUV, the brand says that the new 2026 Recon is the only “fully electric Trail Rated SUV,” and it features classic Jeep design, combined with a powerful electric powertrain and rugged 4×4 abilities. An impressive 650 horsepower is on tap, along with 620 lb/ft of torque, a driving range of 250 miles and a 0-60 time of just 3.6 seconds.
The new 2026 Jeep Recon’s Selec-Terrain traction management system offers five drive modes for a wide variety of weather and terrain conditions, and the powerful system means that the Recon is capable of taking on challenging maneuvers. In addition, its design offers compromise-free Jeep driving pleasure, with doors that are removable with no tools, swing gate glass and rear quarter glass for open-air freedom combined with the Recon’s electric powertrain and rugged ability.
Production of the new, all-electric 2026 Jeep Recon is set to begin early next year, and with a starting MSRP of $65,000, the new Jeep Recon will initially launch in the US and Canada markets, with global expansion soon to follow. With the trappings of any classic Jeep combined with electric freedom, the new 2026 Jeep Recon is a new era for a cherished heritage.
