The Hennessey VelociRaptor 600 Takes On Californian Desert Dunes In 100º F Weather

For Hennessey’s VelociRaptor 600, sandy dunes are a welcome challenge.

Known for taking performance to new heights, it’s no surprise what Hennessey was capable of doing to create its VelociRaptor 600, but while it isn’t surprising how much of a performance monster the VelociRaptor is, it isn’t any less impressive. Hennessey makes sure that said performance is just as impressive regardless of the weather conditions, which is why the VelociRaptor 600 went out to the Southern California desert, and braved dunes up to 300 feet high in temperatures above 100 degrees Fahrenheit. With 672 lb/ft of torque as well as other upgrades from bumper to bumper, the truck didn’t even break a sweat through jumps, steep inclines, and low-traction surfaces.

While this undoubtedly makes for awe-inspiring footage, the hot weather testing program is an important way for Hennessey to make sure that its cars are capable in varying situations, and hot weather isn’t the only extreme situation that Hennessey ensured the VelociRaptor 600 could handle. Earlier this year, the VeociRaptor 600 and the Mammoth 1000 TRX by Hennessey underwent cold-weather testing in the frigid Colorado winter. As useful as this intense testing is, it’s quite convenient, as well, because as you can see, it makes for quite the epic video once all is said and done.
