2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Review

There are few cars that I’ve driven that were more enjoyable than the new 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. That’s a fact. I seriously adored just about every facet of this car, including its looks, handling, power, sound, comfort and so much more. The week I spent with the Giulia Quadrifoglio was a treat itself, and if I could drop the money to buy one and have more weeks with it, I would.

First off, the power that this car packs is serious; underneath the hood is a twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 that has more kick than you’d expect from a six-cylinder. Rated at 505 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque, the power is bountiful. When compared to the Mercedes-AMG C63 S (503 hp), AMG C63 (469 hp) and BMW M3 (425 hp), it sits at the top of the power ratings. According to Alfa Romeo, this power is enough to propel the car from 0-60 mph in just 3.8 seconds. While I didn’t have any timing gear equipped to the car, I can tell you that during my time testing, the Giulia Quadrifoglio is lightning quick off of the line. Our example was sending power to the rear wheels via an 8-speed transmission, which is the only transmission available in the United States.

While driving, you’ll be able to access four different driving modes: DYNAMIC, NATURAL, ADVANCED EFFICIENCY and RACE. These driving modes are part of what Alfa Romeo calls their DNA Pro Drive Modes, which can be selected from the center console. The DNA modes are easily accessible, but it takes a few extra seconds of holding the knob in the DYNAMIC mode to turn on RACE. The most important mode, in my opinion, would have to be RACE Mode, which provides more torque, better throttle response and opens up the exhaust for a louder sound. However, this mode has stiffer suspension and no traction control, which doesn’t make it great for daily driving. If you want a smooth ride, pick NATURAL for a good balance. DYNAMIC mode, however, is also great for daily driving and has a sportier drive than NATURAL. Worried about your gas mileage? Go for ADVANCED EFFICIENCY, which enables cylinder deactivation.

You may be taken by the car’s power and excellent handling, but it’s the style of the Giulia Quadrifoglio that also shines. When I was driving, I noticed scores of people staring at the car because, frankly, there was nothing else on the road that looked like it. The triangular grille that separates two massive air intakes and gorgeous headlights were definitely what caught most eyes. As for the rest of the car, the style continues, while also adding in a muscular appearance that we have typically seen in M Performance or AMG models.

Inside the Giulia Quadrifoglio is an interior that you’d expect from an Italian automaker. The leather was fine and the environment was serene. One of my favorite design aspects had to be the dashboard, which had the entertainment screen flowing perfectly into it. Whoever design the dashboard on this car, hats off to you. As for space, there was enough for adults in the front and back, but that was expected considering the 182.6 inch length and height of 56.1 inches.

I could fawn over this car for hours, which I did to anyone that asked about it. If you’re looking for a sports car that’s both stylish and powerful, there’s no need to look further because this is it right here.
