It’s a mobile optical illusion, and it looks so fast that it just might win the world’s oldest active endurance race without even moving.
Aston Martin has pulled back the veil on their newest Art Car design just a few days ahead of the start of the 24 Hours of Le Mans race, and as we can see in their press release, issued today, it’s a stunning design courtesy of German artist and sculptor Tobias Rehberger.

This new design can be seen on the Gulf #97 Vantage GTE beginning today, during the official race scrutineering. As the release describes, this design comes in time for the 30th anniversary of the marque’s first art car at Le Mans, a tradition started 40 years ago by BMW.
“Personally, I think art cars are fantastic,” said Darren Turner, driver of the car, in the release. “This design really pushes the boundaries of what’s been done before and challenges how we can use patterns and colours in racecar liveries – I love it!”
