While production is on hold throughout the civilized world, the Aston Martin DBX is poised to be the world’s most luxurious SUV. To raise the bar in terms of quality and quantity, the ancient plant at Gaydon was not suitable. So after years of converting an RAF base into an outstanding assembly plant, the new Aston Martin factory is ready for production. Located in St. Athan, Wales, it will be up and running as soon as the virus threat is over.
This plant is dedicated to the DBX and has added 750 jobs to the local economy. Their goal is to deliver a hand-built SUV powered by a 542 horsepower 4.0L AMG V8. It sends 616 lb-ft of torque to all wheels. Mercedes-AMG also supplies the infotainment systems and the 9-speed transmission, signaling a new age of cooperation between the brands.
