Building electric cars takes a toll on the environment. Becoming an eco-friendly automaker is their top goal, so the 2021 Audi e-tron has begun production at a carbon-neutral factory. In their latest press release, Audi touts their Böllinger Höfe plant as the future of the brand’s electric initiative. Power and heat are supplied by a co-generation plant that burns biogas, and parts are moved by trucks running CNG.
2022 Audi RS e-tron GT Is Ready For Production
Building the new E-tron is an exercise in recycling, as aluminum scraps and the composite filaments are swept up and fed back into the tooling. These processes began when the production of the new Audi R8 for sale moved there in 2014, and they form the basis for Audi’s electric future. Paper and food waste is incinerated to power the facility, leading the way to their goal of total carbon neutrality by 2025. Sharing the same architecture as the Porsche Taycan, the E-tron is poised to be their best performing model in years.
