Automakers love camouflage. It not only allows them to test their upcoming products on the road without revealing their exterior design, but it also allows them to hint at a model name or an upcoming release date. In the case of the RS e-tron GT, Audi went the bold route, fitting its prototype with massive e-tron graphics and red accents to grab attention. Now the German carmaker has decided to create a new special edition variant to pay homage to it.
It’s called the 2023 Audi RS e-tron GT project_513/2, and it’s part of a US-only limited run of 75 cars. Audi of America teamed up with Audi exclusive to design and build this special edition to pay homage to its original prototype.
If you’re wondering why project_513/2 doesn’t roll off the tongue, it’s part of Audi’s internal naming convention. It denotes which segment, generation, and body style that particular prototype is for and is generally never disclosed to the public.
To create this special edition variant, Audi takes a Mythos Black RS and wraps parts of it in a satin gray finish, like its rear bumper and side skirts. In contrast, Audi wraps part of the front fascia and rear diffuser in red alongside the car’s badges. Then the carmaker lays on the camouflage graphic, which features various patterns and the e-tron name in multiple sizes throughout.
Inside, the Nappa leather interior follows a similar color scheme with red accents that complement the rest of the car’s trim. Other subtle details like the debossed project_513/2 logo on the leather-wrapped center console and the e-tron name as the background for the Audi MMI infotainment system tie the whole theme together.
Mechanically, this special edition is an RS e-tron GT, which means you get 637 horsepower, 612 pound-feet of torque, and a 3.1-second dash to 60 mph. However, the project_513/2 comes standard with most of the RS’s optional extras. These include carbon ceramic brakes, 21-inch wheels, carbon fiber roof, rear-wheel steering, and 18-way adjustable front sport seats, to name a few.

The 2023 Audi RS e-tron GT project_513/2 starts at $181,990, including a $1,495 destination and $595 metallic paint charge. For context, a standard RS e-tron GT starts at $145,395 but lacks many of the project_513/2’s standard equipment. Expect the limited edition variant to go on sale later this spring.
