Bentley Motors introduces electric models to its First Response Team fleet, aligning with its Beyond100 strategy for environmental sustainability.

In its pursuit of environmental excellence, Bentley Motors has made a significant leap forward by integrating fully electric models into its First Response Team fleet at its UK headquarters in Crewe. This EV update includes the addition of the Volkswagen ID3 and ID Cargo Buzz, signifying a shift towards more sustainable day-to-day operations, including handling medical emergencies and events. The electric vehicles will be powered by 107 on-site charging points, which draw energy from over 36,000 solar panels installed at the facility. This transition is a crucial component of Bentley’s Beyond100 strategy, aiming to meet strict environmental targets. The addition of Bentley’s EV fleet reduces carbon emissions and cuts down noise pollution, benefiting the environment and the local community. Technically, these models are ideally suited for the Crewe site’s 10 mph speed limit, alleviating the mechanical strains faced by their diesel predecessors.

Both the ID Buzz and ID3 have been customized with a red lower body wrap for a uniform appearance, along with Bentley wings and emergency contact details. They are equipped with sirens and a light bar, with the ID3 designated for medical emergencies and the ID Cargo Buzz tasked with transporting emergency equipment. Following the example set by its on-site Logistics operation, these new additions are a stride towards Bentley’s goal of being carbon neutral by 2030. The shift from using 333 gallons of fuel annually to zero gallons is an example of Bentley’s dedication to environmental sustainability. The Crewe site, already running on 100% renewable energy and certified carbon neutral by the Carbon Trust, continues to innovate in eco-friendly practices. These include a water recycling system in the paint shop and extensive solar panel installation. Bentley’s vision to transform Crewe into a ‘climate positive factory’ by 2030 is well underway.
