Bentley Motors announced its third-highest sales year in 2023, delivering 13,560 ultra-luxury cars and SUVs to its global clientele. While 11% lower than its record-breaking 2022, one growing trend in the luxury car market is the craving for personalization and exclusivity. A whopping 75% of Bentley buyers opted for custom touches beyond the 46 billion standard configurations, a 43% jump over the previous year. This surge in bespoke orders, mainly through the Mulliner division, shows how luxury car enthusiasts are seeking more than just a premium purchase; they’re after a one-of-a-kind statement piece.

In a twist of market preference, Bentley observed a shift towards more high-end models like the Azure, S, and Speed variants. These accounted for 70% of sales, a huge rise from the 30% mark in 2022. The Bentayga Extended Wheelbase also exceeded sales expectations, proving its worth in the Bentley’s SUV lineup. Hybrid models continued to hold their ground, especially in the UK where a quarter of Flying Spur and Bentayga customers went green. This trend highlights the increasing appeal of eco-friendly luxury, only feeding into the electrification process taking place around the world.
While there was growth in the Asia Pacific and the Middle East, key markets like China and the UK saw an 18% dip. But, the Bentayga remained the star, securing 44% of total sales and maintaining its status as the top luxury SUV. The Continental GT and GT Convertible, along with the Flying Spur, also continued their legacy, making up a significant portion of sales. Despite global challenges, the Americas held firm as Bentley’s largest market, while the UK emerged as the top region for hybrid model sales. Bentley’s resilience and adaptability in an ever-changing market highlight its endless allure to luxury car buyers worldwide.
