BMW Builds 24k Gold i3 and i8 For Charity Auction

When the nice people of the Soviet Union decided to invade Checkloslovakia in 1968, an activist started a political movement for his people to fight back. Václav Havel’s resistance to the Iron Curtain united Czechs and Slovaks together, culminating in the Velvet Revolution in 1989. He was elected President and served until 2003. After his death in 2011, his widow Dagmar decided to devote her life to charity.

The latest news from the Dagmar and Václav Havel Foundation is a pair of gold BMWs. This isn’t a cheesy metalflake job, BASF created this unique finish from 24k gold. The i3 and i8 are the Starlight Collection and were built by BMW’s  Czech division for the foundation. It is to benefit their VIZE 97 Prize, which is award annually to groundbreaking scientific or humanitarian achievements. the i8 is mostly new for the 2019 model year.
