BMW uses an intelligent manufacturing process to combine efficiency with bespoke, exclusive luxury.
The BMW M4 CS takes the existing high-performance excellence of the celebrated M4 and elevates it with track-focused tweaks, and the car serves as the basis for one of BMW’s newest exclusive special edition models, the BMW M4 CS Edition VR46, which commemorates the 46th birthday and the legendary racing career of Valentino Rossi, who built his celebrated legacy racing with the number 46.
The car comes in two different configurations, each with only 46 examples made. The limited run of 92 cars rolled off the assembly line at BMW’s Dingolfing plant between February and May, and the use of both bespoke craftsmanship and large-scale manufacturing technology made the production process both exclusive and efficient for the special-edition model.
Both variants of the new BMW M4 CS Edition VR46 will be displayed against the idyllic backdrop of Italy’s Lake Como at the upcoming Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, and both feature bold, contrasting colors, with large “46” graphics and special interior details that denote the special edition. The distinctions that set the limited edition apart were achieved thanks to BMW Group’s unique paint shop abilities, also allowing for special editions like the 3.0 CSL and the BMW 8 Series Jeff Koons Edition.
For the Edition VR46, the paint process included a layer of primer that was sanded down, a stencil for the “46” graphics and other details, and careful application of finishing layers to achieve a smooth surface afterward, before the installation of the carbon fiber roof. The vehicle also features extensive interior touches that set it apart as a custom special edition, and its bespoke experience is capped off with an exclusive meeting with Valentino Rossi at his home for owners. Thanks to its manufacturing capabilities and revered luxury experience, BMW made the M4 CS Edition VR46 an intelligently luxurious special edition vehicle.
