2016 BMW M6 Convertible Review

Driving in a BMW M car with the top down is borderline heavenly, especially when the car is a 2016 BMW M6 Convertible. With a big engine up front and the unmistakable body of a grand tourer, this car is an absolute showstopper.

Coming in for the 2016 M6 Convertible are only a handful of additions. This includes the new kidney grille, new colors for the exterior and interior and a Competition package. Yeah, it’s not a whole lot, but it’s if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Going back to that “unmistakable” body of the M6 Convertible, this car looks exactly how a grand tourer should. It’s long front end, short rear and a long, sloping bodyline is a thing of beauty. Although it does have an impressive size, the cabin’s capacity is a little underwhelming. The driver and passenger have plenty of room for all extremities, but the space for the rear passengers is less than expected when the car’s size comes into consideration. I’m not saying rear passengers will be uncomfortable, just that the size of the car led me to believe that there would be more room.

Speaking of room, this car has plenty of room up front for its big biturbo V8 engine. When pushed, this engine will give the driver access to 560 hp and 502 lb-ft of torque, all of which can be heard from the exhaust. If the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission isn’t to your liking, you can opt for the six-speed manual transmission. Either way, the car performs fantastically. Even with a larger body than most M cars, driving the new convertible was a comfortable ride that had me back for more. Whether it was a daily drive to the grocery store, or a run through some winding roads, I enjoyed every second of the M6’s drive. Doing all of this with the top down made everything even better.

The week I had with the 2016 BMW M6 Convertible was quite incredible. It had road presence, great handling and the power I needed, all in one open-top package. If you’re considering adding this car to your stable, be sure to visit your local dealer to see just how wonderful this grand tourer is.
