For the new Bugatti Bolide, Brembo did something it hadn’t done before.
With what is arguably the most extreme application of its quad-turbocharged W16 engine, the Bugatti Bolide is made purely for the track, and with its light weight and incredible power, it can deliver amazing speed, but Bugatti made sure it also delivered a similar caliber of stopping power, and Brembo was who Bugatti called.
The iconic Italian manufacturer is known for its braking systems in various high-performance cars, but the one created for the Bugatti Bolide is on another level. It took two years of development and testing, and resulted in a braking system on par with the technology featured in LMh and LMDh race cars.
The Bolide’s front brakes are the largest-ever carbon-carbon brakes, with 15-inch discs and 8 pistons. At the rear, 6-piston calipers are paired with slightly thinner 15-inch discs. With bespoke master cylinders, as well as specially-formulated brake fluid, the Bolide stops, and goes, like no other car ever made.
To ensure its consistent performance in even the most extreme of situations, Bugatti took to the Imola Circuit in Italy in the rain to test the race car’s “Wet” mode, and through this testing, Bugatti was able to fine-tune the adjustments that the driving mode makes and ensure that the Bolide is an incredibly dynamic race car, even when the weather says otherwise. With an incredible dedication to on-track performance, and the largest-ever carbon-carbon braking system, the Bugatti Bolide shows that Bugatti’s unmatched automotive excellence translates perfectly to the track.
