New Bugatti Luxury Yacht “Niniette” Costs Over $2 Million

If you happen to love speed both on the road and in the water, it’s your lucky day.

In a press release earlier today, Bugatti, the French automaker responsible for the fastest production car in the world, announced its partnership with Palmer Johnson, the world’s largest motor yacht builder. So what do the king of the road and the king of the sea have planned? A luxury yacht of epic proportions.

This joint venture brings us a collection of unique open carbon fiber sport yachts, available in three different models ranging from 42- to 88-feet. This isn’t Bugatti’s first maritime endeavor, however.

Company founder Ettore Bugatti developed several racing boats and yachts in the 1930s, fondly calling one of his designs Niniette, after his daughter Lidia’s favorite pet.  Paying tribute to the automotive legend, the new Palmer Johnson collection will bear the same name.

When it came to the design process, Bugatti followed their tried and true approach of “form follows performance”.  The luxury yachts integrate Palmer Johnson’s innovative mono-hull shape with sleek Bugatti elements, like the falling shoulder lines of the Type 57C Atalante and the balanced proportions of the Type 41 Royale.

In typical Bugatti fashion, the elegant exterior is only indicative of an incredibly powerful performance capacity. According to the press release, the yachts can reach a top speed of 38 knots, about 70 km/hr.

At the center of the series is the PJ63 Niniette model, a 63-foot vessel with a 20.3-foot beam, salons above and below deck, custom interior and accommodations for four guests and a crew. Two other models join the PJ63: the PJ42 and the PJ88, measuring 42- and 88-feet, respectively.

Both companies are excited for the success of the series.

“This very special project brings together two brands with more than 100 years of experience in high-end crafting in their respective fields,” Dr. Stefan Brungs, a member of Bugatti’s Board of Management for Sales and Marketing, stated in the release.

“Both Palmer Johnson and Bugatti share deeply held core values of reaching for what we cannot see, of reaching high to deliver the next unimagined experience, of always distancing ourselves from the heard,” said Palmer Johnson owner Timur Mohamed, “… [We] are united by the vision of not just thinking outside the box but moving into completely uncharted waters.”

If you want to get your hands on the greatest luxury yacht out there, you’ll have to wait a while. Production time is about 12 months for all three models and pricing starts at a cool €2 million ($2,176,200USD at current exchange rate).
