The latest Grand Prix de Monaco Historique honors the intertwined history of both Bugatti and the Monaco Grand Prix.
The Monaco Grand Prix has been one of the racing world’s most important traditions for nearly 100 years. In that time, it’s become considered one of the most challenging race tracks in the entire world, a place where some of the most legendary moments in motorsport are created. The Bugatti brand’s history has close ties with that of the Monaco Grand Prix, because it was a Bugatti that won the very first Monaco Grand Prix. After that, Bugatti won twice more in a row, with one of those wins being accomplished by Louis Chiron in 1931.

Louis Chiron remains the only driver to have won the Monaco Grand Prix as a native Monégasque, with his Bugatti Type 51, and he raced his final Grand Prix, in Monaco, in 1955, placing sixth in his Lancia D50, and becoming the oldest driver to have ever participated in a Formula 1 Grand Prix at 55 years old, which is something that can still be said today. In his honor, the 13th Grand Prix de Monaco Historique will feature a starter category after Louis Chiron, called Series A – Louis Chiron, for front-engined Grand Prix cars built before 1960.
