Cadillac’s new racing hypercar has its sights set on a Le Mans victory.
With plans to compete in both the 2023 IMSA and WEC championships, the new Project GTP Hypercar from Cadillac is an exciting development in the brand’s racing effort. It will mark Cadillac’s return to Le Mans after a long 20 years, and Cadillac has been excited to show off its technology, engineering, and racing prowess on what is arguably the world’s preeminent racing stage. Along with that, the unique design language of the Project GTP is not just reserved for the race car, but it also promises to inform Cadillac design for future production vehicles as well.

The Project GTP is going to be powered by a 5.5-liter V8 engine which will be paired with the LMDh hybrid system, and its first race is going to be at the Rolex 24 at Daytona in 2023. Aiming to build on the brand’s motorsport legacy, Cadillac’s achievements include 3 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship wins in 2021, 2018, and 2017, 4 consecutive Rolex 24 at Daytona wins from 2017-2020, 4 Michelin North American Endurance Cup wins in 2020, 2019, 2018, and 2017, and 5 Pirelli World Challenge Manufacturer’s Championships, as well as 5 Driver’s Championships.
