The New 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V Is The Most Powerful Full-Size SUV

23 years ago, the idea of a Cadillac SUV was newfangled.

And now, in a world where the luxury SUV and luxury performance SUV have reached a fever pitch in popularity, Cadillac has released a performance version of its iconic Escalade SUV as part of its V-Series of performance-oriented cars. It goes on sale late this summer, starting at $149,990, and it doesn’t take the letter V lightly. We know the Escalade for being big, in price, footprint, and attention, and the new 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V adds big performance to the mix.

Since 2004, the V-Series has been the indicator of some of the world’s greatest luxury performance cars, and in that 18 years, the letter V has created quite a legacy for Cadillac, that the Escalade-V has the responsibility of upholding and expanding. To that end, the Escalade-V gets a supercharged V8 engine with an incredible 682 horsepower and 653 lb/ft of torque, making it the most powerful SUV in the full-size class. Along with an all-wheel-drive system that’s always active, 4.4 seconds is all it takes to get from 0 to 60, and the quarter-mile is accomplished in 12.74 seconds at 110 mph. The Cadillac Escalade-V might be big, but it is by no means sluggish.

However, that power comes with dynamics, thanks to the all-wheel-drive system, Brembo brakes, and the Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 suspension system. With control coming from the selectable V-Mode settings which include a Launch Control function, comfort, dynamics, and performance that turns the large Escalade SUV into something that drives like a much smaller sports car are at the driver’s fingertips.

The Escalade-V combines top-of-the-line performance with similarly excellent luxury and technology. The interior features Zebra Wood accents with semi-aniline leather upholstery throughout, along with heated and ventilated front seats that feature a massage function. A curved 38-inch display with the pixel density of a 4K screen is where all the infotainment functions can be found, a 36-speaker sound system from AKG and Cadillac’s Super Cruise hands-free driving assistance system round out the driving experience that makes the new Cadillac Escalade-V the luxury performance SUV of dreams.
