As part of a thrilling start to the week of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, four Formula 1 drivers swapped their high-speed race cars for hovercrafts in the Nevada desert, showcasing their versatile driving skills. The fourth episode of the (Un)serious Race Series featured World Champion Max Verstappen, his teammate Sergio “Checo” Pérez, and Scuderia AlphaTauri’s Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo in a series of three entertaining challenges. Amidst the desert’s notorious alien spacecraft lore, these F1 drivers took to 13-foot long, 26.5 horsepower hovercrafts, reaching top speeds of 30 mph.
The event was as competitive as it was humorous, with drivers strategizing and showcasing their on-track determination, all while navigating the hovercrafts’ special handling characteristics while flying through the desert’s challenging conditions. The friendly rivalry saw Team Scuderia AlphaTauri edge out a victory over Team Oracle Red Bull Racing with a 2-1 challenge tally. Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda, having previously faced off in Miami, enjoyed the team experience, highlighting the contrast between the relaxed atmosphere of the challenges and the competitive nature of race weekends.
