Mercedes-Benz EQ Silver Arrow Points to the Future

Mercedes-Benz is paying homage to the record-breaking 1937 W 125 car that hit 268.9 mph on the A5 autobahn with a new show car called the EQ Silver Arrow. This futuristic, autonomous and electric car comes in as a one-seater that’s filled with the latest technology and a design fit for a sci-fi movie.

The body is 17.3 feet long and is as streamlined as they come. Carbon fiber comprises the car’s body, as well as the functional components of the exterior. Accentuating the body’s streamlined design is a continuous strip of lighting in blue. The letters “EQ” are also illuminated on the side skirts, which represents the electric Mercedes brand. Adding to the car’s wild design are the wheels that have non-rotating hubcaps and 168 spokes per wheel.

When driving the car, the driver will be placed in the single-seater cockpit that can be folded forward to give a view of the futuristic cabin. Surrounding the driver is a large panoramic screen that displays a 3D image of the car’s surroundings. This screen can also be used to display a virtual racetrack that the driver can “race” against. Of course, the race is completely virtual so you won’t be racing in the middle of traffic.

With “EQ” in the name, it’s obvious that this is an electric vehicle. There’s a rechargeable battery that has a capacity of approximately 80 kWh. With this battery, the EQ Silver Arrow can push out 738 horsepower and reach a top speed of over 250 mph.
