Starting with a new chassis, CFRP has been substituted for metal in many places. Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic is how the larger 7 Series is lighter than its competition, and it is now implemented in the M5. The M engineers at BMW have refined their 4.4-liter V8, and have produced 40 more horsepower and 53 lb-ft of torque. You will have 600 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. At only 1,800 rpm you received a spirited punch of torque, and it remains through 5,700 rpm. Boost is upped to almost 25 psi, allowing the engine to pull strongly at any rpm you accelerate from. Power like this is brutal, which is why an AWD system has been put in place. The system is named M Xdrive, and it incorporates the latest in torque vectoring and locking differentials, allowing the M5 to be launched to 60 mph in only 3.2 seconds.
