Das Renn Treffen 2016 Celerates The Porsche Automobile

The second annual Das RennTreffen (literal translation: the race meet), returned to South Miami’s iconic Shops at Sunset Place Sunday, March 6, 2016 with rousing success. Over 250 cars worth over $20 million dollars came together to celebrate almost 60 years of Porsche evolution.

The highly anticipated event kicked off on Saturday evening with a VIP reception at ‘The Porsche Automobile Obsession,’ a collection of over 3,000 Porsche memorabilia showcased at Sunset Place by Bruce Hollander. ‘It is a pleasure to share my life-long passion with the public for the first time,’ said Hollander who has collected Porsche artifacts for decades. Hundreds of Porsche model cars, rare correspondence by Mr. Porsche himself, and several Hoffman trophies are part of the unique collection, which was open to visitors throughout the concourse.

On the following day, a picture perfect Florida Sunday, cars started arriving for registration as early as 7am. Everything from Porsche 356 to the Porsche 918 Spyder hypercar lined closed-off 72ndStreet, creating a safe and relaxed environment for enthusiasts and their families to take a leisurely stroll and admire the cars. Hundreds collectors, Porsche Club members and enthusiasts participated this year to exchange stories and revel in their Porsche passion.

Alvaro Rodriguez de Vera, Das RennTreffen organizer and director at Parkhaus 1, was delighted: “Nothing brings me more joy than to unite people and their families for the love of Porsche cars. We are honored to bring this event to the City of South Miami.”

A special highlight of this year’s gathering was the attendance of Urban Outlaw, Magnus Walker, who flew in from Los Angeles to be part of the spectacle. Mingling with fans and taking photos of several rare Porsche cars he said: ”This is an amazing show. It doesn’t matter if you speak English, Spanish or German – we all speak Porsche here. Many thanks to all the fans in Miami for the 305 love and especially the Parkhaus 1 crew.”
