Despite the calamities caused by the virus, the market for classic and exotic cars is stronger than ever. We see this in reports from our clients and results from events, as Mecum Auctions’ Houston puts 2020 in the record books. This three day event took place over the weekend, and it saw $14.7 million in overall sales. If you missed the live stream, here are the top ten:
- 1941 Ford Custom Pickup (Lot S81) at $206,250
- 1990 Land Rover Defender 110 Custom (Lot S108) at $176,000
- 2013 Ford E350 Sportsmobile (Lot S180) at $176,000
- 1934 Lincoln KA Convertible (Lot S143) at $137,500
- 1987 Porsche 930 Turbo (Lot S110.1) at $132,000
- 2004 Ferrari 360 Spider (Lot S132) at $126,500
- 1962 Mercedes-Benz 190SL (Lot F125.1) at $121,000
- 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible (Lot S130.1) at $115,500
- 2010 Dodge Viper ACR Final Edition (Lot S72) at $110,000
- 1963 Lincoln Continental Convertible (Lot S124) at $106,700
As you can see from the top three, Texans love trucks. The new Corvette convertible was hours old when it hammered above sticker price, and an 87 Porsche 911 Turbo was a bargain at $132,000.
