Ferrari LaFerrari Hypercar Being Auctioned at Mecum Kissimmee

We would live in a boring world if all cars were created equal. Ferrari has always been the answer to uninspiring automobiles, and their latest Hypercar never fails to impress us. It seems as if there is something new to be learned each time we encounter them.

Only 500 examples of the LaFerrari were built, with only 120 for the US. Each one is powered by a Hybrid system coupled to a naturally aspirated 6.3 liter V12. An electric motor/generator on the engine works with another mounted on the transmission to add 161 horsepower and 199 lb-ft of torque when needed. It works in conjunction with a V12 that makes 789 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque.

One day in the distant future, perhaps all cars will be capable of 949 hp and 663 lb-ft of torque. It won’t be anytime soon, because it took years to develop a car worthy enough. The one-piece carbon fiber body is made of 4 unique weaves of composite. Each was laminated by hand before heading to the same autoclave used by the F1 team.

Input from Scuderia Ferrari drivers was essential in creating a cockpit that minimizes distractions and optimizes comfort. Instead of adjustable seats, they are bolted directly to the body. The steering column and pedals are then moved to meet the driver. Not only does the car have active aerodynamics from the large rear spoiler, twin ducts under the body are constantly reacting to keep it glued to the track. Power is sent to the rear wheels by the 3rd generation of their electronic differential. No expense was spared inside or out, so click the link below for all the details and stay with us for complete coverage of Mecum’s 2018 season.
