Ferrari Dino Returning as a V6-Engined Sports Car

The Ferrari Dino is looking to come back as a sports car equipped with a twin-turbocharged V6 engine. This model will compete with the Porsche 911 and its variants. This news comes from a June 4 article published by AutoCar.co.uk.

When the website asked Ferrari chairman Sergio Marchionne if they were planning on giving the Dino a revival, he responded by saying it’s “not a question of if, but when.”

However, Marchionne does not plan on ramping up production for this unofficially announced car, and he also does not want to enter a lower price point or create a sub-brand.

“We may produce a 500 horsepower Ferrari but it will not be a cheap Ferrari,” he told AutoCar. “The brand is unique and needs to be protected. I would always rather build 500 fewer cars than the market demanded rather than 500 more. We must not mess with customer expectations of Ferrari as an exclusive brand.”

This news should come as a relief to those who worried about a potential drop in exclusivity due to an increase model production and lower-priced vehicles.

When produced, it will sit alongside the California T’s price point, but will instead be mid-engined. Essentially, Ferrari wants to revive the Dino in a correct manner by creating a true sports car that fits in the current Ferrari lineup, but offers something new.

The fact that this information is coming from Marchionne’s mouth is encouraging and we can’t wait to see what the Italian automaker creates. Stay with us for more up-to-date Ferrari news.
