Watch Shmee150 Drive The 1-of-559 Ferrari Daytona SP3

Shmee experiences one of the most special Ferraris yet.

Ferrari’s Icona series is the Prancing Horse’s chance to show off the pinnacle of its design and engineering abilities, with the barchetta-style Monza SP1 and SP2, which pay homage to classic Ferrari race cars, and now the Daytona SP3, the first mid-mounted V12 in a Ferrari since the legendary LaFerrari hybrid hypercar. With only 599 examples of the ultra-exclusive, historically-inspired Daytona SP3 being made, it’s one of the most special and exclusive creations Ferrari has revealed yet, and popular automotive YouTube personality and prolific car collector Shmee150 has finally gotten the chance to get behind the wheel of it in a new video.

The Daytona’s 6.5-liter, naturally aspirated V12 engine produces an incredible 829 horsepower, making it the most powerful Ferrari engine yet, and also the first non-hybrid mid-mounted V12 in a Ferrari since the Enzo. Its design references 1960s race cars, which forged an important legacy with their sweeping victories at the eponymous Daytona race track. The example that Shmee got the opportunity to drive is finished in Rosso Portofino with a Bianco Avus stripe livery, with a strikingly contrasting Blu Elettrico Alcantara interior with red embroidery.

While the V12 engine is becoming rarer in the automotive world as smaller engines with hybrid assistance are becoming powerful, innovative, and formidable in their own right, Shmee remarks on the unparalleled excellence of the V12 engine, with its naturally aspirated response, visceral power, and absolutely thrilling sound, especially when it’s high in the rev range. With a detailed walkaround and a dream cruise around Denmark’s country roads, any Ferrari enthusiast will want to see what Shmee150’s time behind the wheel of the Ferrari Daytona SP3 was like.
