Any automotive enthusiast on the planet can agree that the color red with forever be synonymous with the Ferrari brand, presenting the vibrant shade on every model that leaves the factory in Maranello. Since its humble beginning, the Italian supercar manufacturer began to develop an extensive color palette of red shades that would later take on personalities of their own. One of the most iconic colors in the history of Ferrari is Rosso Dino, which originally debuted in the 1960s on iconic examples like the Ferrari 250 GTO. After some time spent outside the paint booth, the color was reintroduced to the brand’s lineup in 2002 when a client asked for his Ferrari Enzo to be painted in Rosso Dino.

The Rosso Dino shade receives its name from Founder Enzo Ferrari’s first son Alfredo ‘Dino’, an Italian automotive engineer that found a passion and career in the factory of his father. After Dino’s passing during his unfortunate battle with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy at the age of 24, Enzo named the model with the engine Dino was working on at the time of his death. Along with the Dino chassis, Ferrari also named the reddish-orange finish after Enzo’s beloved son. With a shade that mimics a perfect sunset, Rosso Dino is now a regularly used color within the Ferrari factory.
