If you are like most gear heads, you remember the days when modifying your Hot Rod meant removing extra parts, cutting a little metal, and hammering out some fresh curves. As time has progressed, the backyard hobby has now grown into a hyper-competitive multi-million dollar industry. Today unless you have deep pockets and a decade of time, it takes a serious plan and highly skilled craftsmen to compete with the world’s best street rods. And when it comes to planning and craftmanship, it does not get much better than this All Steel Dearborn Deuce. This slick little roadster is a world-class custom that will fulfill your needs cheaper and faster than a long drawn-out build. With names like Dearborn Deuce, Roush, Bowler, Detroit Street Rods, Pete & Jakes and BonSpeed on its spec sheet, this Ford Authorized creation will outperform and outlast about anything on the road.

BODY WORK/TRIM

When building a top-notch show-stopper you have to start with an excellent foundation. In the world of modern Street Rodding it does not get much better than 850 pounds of Dearborn Deuce Sheetmetal. Every Dearborn Deuce is stamped and sealed by the same Detroit entities that supply major auto OEM automakers. That level of precision results in an authentic custom that retains all of the original lines, functional parts, and structural integrity. The Deuce’s stunning body displays smooth vertical panels and an arrow-straight profile that deserves to be seen and celebrated. It wears a smooth E-Coat primer under BASF High-Bake Urethane that reflects a distinct combination of Cheri Pie Red and 8-Ball Black. All of these tailored Hi-Boys were delivered through official Ford Racing Performance and Ford Motor Company Dealers. Since the cars were extremely well done, it is easy to see how they fit right in with Ford’s swathe vision of attractive customer-specific mobility. At the front of the Deuce is color-keyed frame horns that hang a Polished Spreader Bar, H4 Headlights, a custom Stainless Steel Grill and an all Ford Steel “Ford” branded grill shell. Behind that shell is a three-piece hood that runs toward a stainless-trimmed windshield that is anchored between traditional mirrors and small wipers. A tight Haartz cloth top, OEM style that fully integrates into the car’s smooth deck. Stylish LED Teardrops illuminate Polished custom exhaust tips. A rear polished spreader bar and a body-matched fuel tank round off the rear of this Deuce.

ENGINE

In typical Hot Rod fashion, you will find eight hot cylinders of All American muscle. A 342RE Cubic inches of Roush Performance “Boss Stroker” V8 that twists 450 Horsepower into 415 ft/lbs of torque. Built from the ground up as your ticket to acceleration and killer speed. The stout mill sips a steady stream of fuel through an optional Accel digital injection system set a top of an aluminum intake of a Roush Cobra Jet air cleaner. An Accel distributor shoots spark around aluminum Roush heads via loomed Roush 9 mm plug wires. Those heads float between polished Ford Racing breathers, Ford Racing Valve covers, and Technosport Stainless Steel full-length Headers. An MSD Blaster 2 Coil and a front serpentine system spin a polished alternator opposite the AC Compressor. An Auto Rad Aluminum radiator and large electric puller fan coupled with a custom shroud handle the cooling duties. The stainless fuel lines and braided coolant lines and trick dipstick are both functional eye candy.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

The front suspension is a 4-inch dropped forged and drilled I beam between PRO Chrome shocks and Chrome Hairpin radius rods. A custom Detroit Street Rod chassis floats the 32 that is E-Coat primed and baked in urethane paint. Braking is courtesy of polished Wilwood 4-piston calipers, floor-mounted booster, and braided stainless brake line. 11-inch drilled and slotted rotors. A high octane soundtrack is provided by a deep glasspack-style muffler with large Mandrel-bend tubes. A deep-sump oil pan, quality Earl’s fuel components, a spry Powermaster starter, and proven Pete & Jakes round out the finishing components. Optima Red top spins the flywheel for sure fast starts.
