Natural aspiration is fine for most, but to fully realize the advantages of the design, John Hennessey and his team decided to add boost while removing restrictions on the intake and exhaust. Adding a 2.9-liter supercharger to a 5.2 liter V8 yields incredible results. At only 6 psi, the HPE750 delivers 754 horsepower and 653 lb-ft of torque. Power of this magnitude demands more fuel pressure, so larger injectors are fed by a booster pump. When the build is started, the heads are removed and ported by hand for optimal flow and less risk of detonation. The end result is a Shelby Mustang capable of reaching 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and a quarter-mile of 10.8 @ 133. To put that into perspective, watch a stock Shelby GT350 race a Dodge Hellcat police car. At only 6 pounds, the car and the supercharger are capable of more, but this car was built to last.
