McLaren’s journey into the automotive world began with its founder Bruce McLaren, originated as a motorsports team that dominated tracks and set records. Over time, its expertise naturally extended into the production of supercars and hypercars, positioning McLaren as one of the industry leaders with pioneering examples like the electrified P1. Built as the predecessor to the legendary F1, the McLaren P1 seamlessly integrated top-tier performance with emerging Formula One technology, which resulted in a groundbreaking hybrid power unit never before seen for a supercar. Presented as a rare opportunity for a passionate car collector, this immaculate 2014 McLaren P1 is up for auction with the professionals at Sotheby’s Motorsport.

This McLaren P1 stands out as chassis #110 of only 375 examples in existence, which has remained part of the Ikonick Collection of Miami, Florida, since 2017. The P1 comes finished in McLaren’s special Elite White ($11,200) with black exterior accents and features an array of additional carbon fiber components, including the styled body-side air intakes, deployable front flaps, massive active rear wing. A work of art in itself, the rear wing provides significant downforce at high speeds thanks to its maximum extension reaching nearly 12″ from its pivoting mount.

Opening the butterfly-style McLaren doors reveals the P1’s driver-oriented black leather and Alcantara interior. The cabin showcases a pair of suede sports bucket seats that safely secure both driver and passenger for the ride of a lifetime. And if you thought the carbon fiber ended with the exterior, you would be very mistaken. The dash, center console, doors, and nearly every other surface trim piece is covered with the ultra-lightweight racing material. A portrait screen infotainment system and safety harness attachment point round out the feel of McLaren’s track monster.

The McLaren P1 combines a twin-turbocharged 3.8L V8 engine with an innovative electric motor, creating a monstrous hybrid powertrain. The hybrid-assisted platform produces a jaw-dropping 903 horsepower and 723 lb-ft of torque. This setup allows the P1 to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in only 2.8 seconds, and it can achieve a top speed electronically limited to 217 mph. The car also features a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that provides rapid gear shifts, making for a seamless driving experience on the road or track. Bidding for this collector-grade 2014 McLaren P1 auction is now live on Sotheby’s Motorsport until October 26th.
