The mid-2010s are often remembered as the glory days of free-for-all supercar development, seeing the absolute peaks of performance squeezed out of seemingly inexhaustible cylinders and displacement figures. Powerhouses like the Ferrari 458 Speciale, Aston Martin One-77, and Bugatti Chiron proved that not only were astronomical performance specs possible, but a new generation of buyers demanded them. Lamborghini was no exception, with engineers seeking to produce a similarly specced replacement for the successful yet aging Murcielago. What resulted was the Aventador, launched at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show and powered by an all-new V12. The car was instantly successful, but it was only a short time before it became clear buyers demanded an even faster machine. Lamborghini answered, releasing the SV or “Super Veloce” model in 2015, with the roadster coming the following year. The automotive specialists at Sotheby’s Motorsport are pleased to showcase this 2017 Lamborghini Aventador SV Roadster as part of its current inventory of auction listings.
This 2017 Lamborghini Aventador SV Roadster has remained part of the Ikonick Motors collection of Miami, Florida, since new and shows a mere 396 miles on the odometer. Further adding to this example’s exclusivity is an aftermarket exterior modification package consisting of boundless custom-fabricated carbon fiber components including a front lip spoiler, front strut, styled side skirts, rear wing, air-outlet trunk lid, side air intake, and more, enhancing the car’s alluring lines and contributing to further weight reductions from the unmodified version. Appealing options like the special Rosso paint, forged wheels, transparent engine cover, heated and power-adjustable seats, and Lamborghini sound system round out the car.
The Lamborghini Aventador SV Roadster is powered by a naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine that churns out an eye-watering 740 horsepower and 509 lb-ft of torque. Mated to a seven-speed ISR (Independent Shifting Rod) automated manual transmission, this beast rockets from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds. The Aventador SV Roadster doesn’t stop there; it can achieve a top speed of around 217 mph. Handling and agility are enhanced by the car’s all-wheel-drive system, magnetorheological suspension, and dynamic steering, ensuring it not only excels in straight-line speed but also cornering ability. This powertrain setup makes the Aventador SV Roadster one of the most exhilarating and high-performance open-top supercars in the market. Bidding for this collector-grade 2014 McLaren P1 auction is now live on Sotheby’s Motorsport until November 2nd.
