During Mecum Auctions’ Monterey Car Week event, they had the opportunity to auction off the 2022 Acura NSX Type S VIN 001. The winning bidder happened to be none other than Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports and chairman & CEO of Hendrick Automotive Group. If you’re familiar with the auctioning off of VIN 001 automobile, you would know that more often than not Rick Hendrick is the one to put in the winning bid. For this NSX Type S, his winning bid ended up being $1.1 million. All proceeds from this event will benefit multiple charitable organizations, including the Center of Science and Industry (COSI) to support STEAM youth education in the United States. This lot alone will allow the organization to provide children with more than 20,000 COSI Learning Lunchbox STEAM Kits, each of which are filled with educational activities and resources.
