Presented by Barrett-Jackson – For any long-standing fan of automobile racing, the ultimate dream is to one day own a participating racecar with a winning history. The automotive specialists at Barrett-Jackson are proud to offer collectors the opportunity to make that dream a reality. This Holman-Moody 1965 chassis C5HM-10047 is the Ford Galaxie driven to victory in the 1965 Daytona 500 by Fred Lorenzen. The 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 gets its power from a 427ci engine managed by a traditional manual transmission. Making an appearance as Lorenzen’s first half-season car, the racecar would go on to win at Riverside and in Martinsville. Its authenticity has been widely acknowledged and validated. It has attended Goodwood by invite on three occasions, where it was voted in the top 30 most significant cars and has been on display at the NASCAR Hall of Fame, including for Lorenzen’s induction ceremony. Recently, the race-ready Galaxie 500 was displayed in the Ford booth on Amelia Island, where it was a past event winner. The 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 will cross the auction block at Barrett Jackson Scottsdale as Lot Number 1440.00. View the vehicle listing on duPont REGISTRY by clicking the link below.
