Over half a billion dollars in sales definitely qualifies for having a good year.

And in 2021, Mecum Auctions had their best year ever. $578 million in total sales from their auctions in 2021 was the result of a year full of unbelievable auctions and even more unbelievable cars crossing the block.

The year started in Kissimmee, and that auction alone gave Mecum their highest total for a single auction in their history with over $141 million in sales. Carroll Shelby’s personal 427 Cobra sold there for nearly $6 million, making it the most expensive 427 Cobra to ever be sold in a public auction.

The Indianapolis Auction in May topped $107 million in sales for the first time ever, and less than halfway through the year, Mecum became the first company to hold two auctions topping $100 million in sales in the same year. The “Big Oly” 1969 Ford Bronco sold there for $1.87 million to become the most expensive SUV sold at public auction.

And there’s more to come, with the date for the Kissimmee Auction fast approaching. The auction will run from January 6 to January 16, and Mecum has every intention of making this auction even bigger than the last one.
