The McLaren P1 follows in the footsteps of the iconic McLaren F1, the car that pushed boundaries further than any of its rivals. The P1 was the first hybrid Supercar in the World upon its delivery in Fall 2013.
The purposeful appearance of the McLaren P1 is the result of a function-led design approach that gives an organic aesthetic that is both beautiful and highly efficient aerodynamically. Designers simply asked, what would nature do?
Building a car that pushes as many boundaries as the P1 required a test and validation process like no other. From the frozen climate of the Arctic Circle to the searing heat of Death Valley to breaking the 7 min. lap time barrier at the famed Nürburgring Nordschleife. The infamous 12.9-mile track in northern Germany has 150 corners and 984 feet of elevation changes. The ultimate testing ground for the ultimate Supercar.
The numbers behind the P1 are astonishing. Powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.8L V8 with a single electric motor hybrid producing a total of 903 bhp; 664 lbft. torque; Propelling the P1 from 0-60mph in 2.6 secs. 0-124mph in 6.8 secs. 0-186mph in under 22 secs. A top speed of 217mph. It can also stop from 60mph in 98ft. and from 124mph in 382ft. It can take the driver from Zero-200mph back to Zero safely in a blistering 48 seconds!
